Piano Lessons

Study piano with a Classical Emphasis:
Building a Foundation of Technique and Musicality
I offer piano lessons for students of all levels, from beginners to advanced with a special emphasis on classical literature. My teaching methodology is centred around Piano Safari for brand new beginners.
In my lessons, I incorporate scales and whole-body piano technique to enhance the learning experience for each student, ensuring they develop a strong foundation in both technique and musicality.

Studio Lessons
In my dedicated studio space, students receive focused, one-on-one piano instruction in a comfortable and distraction-free environment. This setting allows for optimal learning with access to grand piano and resources, ensuring each lesson is productive and inspiring.

In Home Lessons
For students who prefer the convenience and comfort of learning in their own space, I offer In-Home piano lessons. I travel to your home, bringing personalized instruction directly to you. Please note that this option is available depending on your location and my availability.

Online Lessons
Conducted via Sonatico, a Zoom-like platform for music teachers, these lessons feature a high-quality setup using a keyboard and aerial tripod, ensuring clear visuals and sound for an effective learning experience. This intuitive set-up mimics a seamless in-person experience.

Curriculum

Piano Safari
Piano Safari is the primary curriculum I use for new beginner students. This method, highly researched by Dr. Julie Knerr, includes reading (intervallic), rotework on patterns and sound, technique, and improvisation. It is particularly effective for intelligent students, aural learners, slow learners, and quick learners. This method was designed as a prelude to the Royal Conservatory books, and in my experience fosters exceptional strong music note readers. After reaching level 3, we shift focus to classical literature and other early intermediate repertoire.

Classical Literature
Student in the studio will study the standard historical literature such as Mozart, Beethoven, Bach and Chopin. I tend to use several collections of books after Piano Safari such as:

-
RCM Celebration Series (pictured above)
-
Snell Repertoire Series

-
Conservatory Canada (Classical and Jazz books)
-
Plus many other supplements from modern works tailored to each students' interests
